Today, Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen told Congress that interest rate increases are coming:
Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen is on Capitol Hill on Thursday, and in prepared remarks given before the Joint Economic Committee, reiterated her view on the economy and the future of Fed policy delivered on Wednesday.
And in short, Yellen is still clear: the Fed will probably raise rates at its December 15-16 policy meeting.
Blah blah blah, rumors of interest rate hikes have been floating around since last summer. So I will believe it when I see it.
However, Janet might want to consider a career in stand up comedy as she threw out this gem:
The U.S. economy has recovered substantially since the Great Recession.
Never listen to anyone with a PhD in Economics.
