Well, that’s not quite true. He does fly around in Air Force One a lot. He plays a lot of golf. And he manages to find time to make his picks for the NCAA basketball tournament.
But that’s about all he is doing. In fact, President Obama is delaying immigration reform despite the fact that Congress isn’t going to act.
To the frustration of many of his supporters, President Barack Obama is backing away from immigration changes he could make on his own. He is kicking the issue to House Republicans instead, despite mounting evidence they won’t address the millions of immigrants living illegally in the United States.
But the White House wants to ensure that if and when an overhaul ultimately dies in Congress, Republicans can’t claim it was Obama who pulled the plug. Instead, Obama hopes his strategy will allow Democrats down the road to put all the blame on Republicans for failing to deal with immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
And that’s why the administration isn’t enforcing current immigration laws.
That’s why the vice president can state that the U.S. needs a ‘constant, unrelenting stream’ of immigrants.
That’s why the administration is importing thousands of children from Central America.
An organization of former Border Patrol agents Wednesday charged that the federal government, under the administration of President Obama, is deliberately arranging for a flood of immigrant children to arrive in America for political purposes.
“This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a predictable, orchestrated and contrived assault on the compassionate side of Americans by her political leaders that knowingly puts minor illegal alien children at risk for purely political purposes,” said the statement released by the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers.
“Certainly, we are not gullible enough to believe that thousands of unaccompanied minor Central American children came to America without the encouragement, aid and assistance of the United States government,” the officers said.
That’s why the administration is allowing known gang members into the country.
Chris Cabrera, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, said that confirmed gang members in Mexico — including those from Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) — are coming into the country to be reunited with their families, National Review reported Friday.
“If he’s a confirmed gang member in his own country, why are we letting him in here? … I’ve heard people come in and say, ‘You’re going to let me go, just like you let my mother go, just like you let my sister go. You’re going to let me go as well, and the government’s going to take care of us,’” Mr. Cabrera told the magazine.
Yes, Virginia. There is a President. And the one thing that we can be sure that he is doing is driving the country to ruin.
