It ain’t over till it’s over…

The NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) is the group of economists that decides when a recession or depression begins and ends.  They make this decision based on how many consecutive quarters that GDP has fallen.

In 2011, the NBER declared that the ‘Great Recession’ (remember, economists are afraid to use the ‘D’ word) had ended in 2009.
